Overview
The outcome of a design challenge is not meant to be a pixel-perfect and beautiful solution ready for development. Instead, it's meant to showcase a designer's process and how they tackle problems. With a prompt that focuses on college orientation, I approached this design challenge with a goal of incorporating as many UX design skills I employ in my regular work and with an extra focus on showing off my visual design skills.
As a take-home design challenge over one week, there wasn't much time to complete the prompt and have something to deliver. Still, I strove to incorporate my full process to showcase my skills as a designer.
I was able to demonstrate many skills in this project like exploratory user research, persona development, journey mapping, competitive analysis, brainstorming, wireframing, usability testing, all the way up to creating high-fidelity mocks and a clickable prototype.
Even in a week, I was able to showcase a thorough understanding of UX design while delivering a clean UW-branded experience.
Husky Guide is a mobile app for University of Washington students to help them discover fun and exciting orientation events around campus. Students can become more involved in the community through different types of orientation events through an intuitive, easy-to-use app.
